Bahia Pez Vela

After a very early start in Charlotte we made our way thru Atlanta and on to Liberia, CR.  The van we rented required much of the gear to be stacked on the roof.  Typically hot, humid, sunny, cloudy and rainy this time of year.  Made it to the villas by about 3PM local time, two hours behind EST. We cooked up a big meal of steak fahitas, a cool beer and by 7PM people were starting to drop. The house was quiet by 8PM local time.

The first day of dives took us to Argentina Point and a wreck site called Tortuga. Lots of puffer fish, eels and several small rays. A white tip was hanging around by left before most people saw him. We did happen onto a beautiful orange sea horse. Successfully captured that on film.

It is the rainy season here so there are few divers and fewer people on any of the beaches or in town. Very quiet. The villas are very near the ocean and last night the crashes against the rocks were loud enough to wake me up. The sandy beach is black, volcanic sand. It doesn't make for particularly good pictures.

It looks like the weather will hold thru Wednesday and after seeing the group dive, the Divemaster said he was comfortable taking the group to Bat Island where we should see some bull sharks. May be the highlight of the trip. Stay tuned.
